Portrait of John Lewis

Portrait of John Lewis

"We’ve made progress, but we are not there yet. There are forces that want to take us back to another place. We don’t want to go back. We want to go forward."

We're very good at showing how much we love public figures after they're dead, so I wanted to show some appreciation for the living Rep. John Lewis, one of the pioneering leaders of the Civil Rights Movement and Congressman. I want to thank him for his service to this country. He's reminded us of what moral fortitude is and how we can carry ourselves during adversity, past and present. Also, how far we've come and how much we still have to accomplish. I made this poster using vellum and sepia ink to remind myself of my (and all of our) roles ahead.
