This original, painted four years ago, has been hanging in my art studio for the last year. I painted it as part of a type show I did called ‘It’s Not Me It’s You’ inspired by a painful personal breakup from years prior. That it’s become the unofficial slogan of this craptastic year is an (un)happy accident. I used it for the limited edition (and sold out) WTF letterpress poster series that I did with Joel Benson of Dependable Letterpress. As the year is closing out, it felt necessary to release this piece, as an avatar of letting go out of old relationships and their artifacts. It belongs in someone else’s space now, where they can curse the words under their breaths on a daily basis.
