Inspired in part by the process of making ILLUSTRATED BLACK HISTORY, I designed a poster summing up my philosophy of what Black history represents to me. I learned a lot about how Americans view Black history in the time that I worked on this book. I learned that people are pretty cavalier about history in general, and Black history in particular. I learned that I was cavalier about history before I began this process. But I take it very seriously now.

This poster is a limited edition letterpress poster, as part of my ongoing creative collaboration with Joel Benson and Dependable Letterpress. Posters ship end of March.
